Will vs. going to
Will and going to, talk about the future. However, they are not the same!
“Will” can be used in two situations:
- is used to talk about things in the future that we can’t control (not things we have decided to do)
- When we make a decision to do something at the time of speaking.
Some examples:
- Maybe it will rain tomorrow
- I think I will go to the market
“Going to” can also be used in two situations:
- To talk about things we have already decided to do (a plan).
- When there is something in the present that tells us about the future.
Some examples:
- On my next holiday, I am going to France
- The clouds are dark, it is going to rain!
