“Been to” or “Gone to”?
Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008“Been to” means that we have gone somewhere and have now come back.
- I have been to Germany five times.
- Have you been to Germany before?
“Been to” means that we have gone somewhere and have now come back.
“used to” means that something often happened in the past but does not happen now.
This is a big grammar problem especially for German speakers. There is a simple rule to follow:
I am often asked the difference between “a little” and “a few”. It is really quite simple when you know the rule. (these are called quantifiers)
